Why go with natural products? What's in that other stuff anyway?

Ever look at a bottle of lotion or soap label and see things you can't pronounce? The chemicals used can further damage skin and hair! You think you are buying something to cleanse and moisturize but you still have itchy, dry skin! The first thing to avoid is Sodium laureth sulfate.  This is actually a detergent used to make products foam and is found in counter and bathroom cleaners, floor cleaners, and all professional cleaners! For skin contact it can be a irritant and carcinogen! Luckily we are finding more and more products listed as not containing SLS! Find out more about this chemical here. When reading labels, if you can't pronounce it or understand it, you don't need it!

A common myth about regular soap is that it is soap. It is actually a detergent. Tiny particles (like your clothes detergent) are mass compressed to form soap bars. This is why soap cleans, but doesn't moisturize. You still have the ashy, dry skin you had before your shower. Natural cold- processed soaps aren't detergent bars! These are used with creamy oils and butters that when combined cause a chemical reaction called saponification. Oils like coconut oil, Palm oil, avocado oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, and more... each has various qualities that when combined with other oils benefits the skin so amazingly! More and more natural soapers are using sustainable versions of oils and butters to keep the trees growing and unharmed. Most of these are also kosher and vegan. Also added are butters like shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter... natural humectants for skin and hair! The result is a moisture rich cleansing bar of soap that after a month can dissolve to even the size of a quarter without breaking in half! How many pieces of mini broken detergent soap do you have that you squeeze together to try to get your money's worth? It's not only annoying, but it is not helping your skin other than cleaning. Might as well grab some Arm and Hammer. If you stick with a natural soap, You have squeaky clean skin that is soft, silky and smooth! Exfoliants and additives like Aloe and Vitamin E are usually found in natural products, too. So many things in one bar that you use less after-shower products! Also look for those scented with essential oils to further help skin. These oils have different purposes. Some heal eczema, and psoriasis, others heal red, inflammed (and even sunburned) skin. Some balance and tone skin to clear acne and oiliness. So many more oils and uses! You can find all these oils and qualities in fine face, hair, and body products. These are more cost effective products, too, because you won't need a drawer full of creams that won't help what detergent soap continues to cause. It is a crazy cycle, but you can break it!
